On Airway, just past the middle school there are plans for a park. I noticed this sign three or four years ago, and then is disappeared and the area became a staging area for the Flying fortress construction. I had heard it is to be a soccer complex. They have improved the drainage on Airway in preparation for developing the area. AI says $7,000,000 have been set aside for the first step which will include sprinkler system and high quality turf that will withstand desert conditions. There are plans for soccer, softball and baseball and the turf should withstand year round play. There will be a need for $14,000,000 additional funds for later stages which likely will be raised through a bond. The park is called the Sunbelt Sports Project. This project will begin after the completion of Flying Fortress. Flying Fortress ribbon cutting is scheduled for October 5.

ReplyDeleteSince it's going to be a sports complex, it would be the perfect place for a new skatepark as well.
Cody DeWolf Absolutely, our skatepark is dilapidated for sure!!
Cody DeWolf we need a new skatepark bad lol. Somethin built for bikes too

Cody DeWolf why so all the teens and young adults can go there and get high and drink just like the one we have now. Just gonna turnout the same way.
Cody DeWolf
Amber L Godbehere not everyone goes to a skatepark to be a degenerate.

Cody DeWolf no not every body no but a large portion do, my 30 years of living in Kingman growing up there from a child to adult I have seen it myself and been a part of it. They do it because they are harder to be seen while sitting in the bowl.

ReplyDeleteIf the builders want to build homes, then they should build a park near each neighborhood. Pretty sure that's what Henderson proposed and it worked out well for all!

ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if it had a splash pad area like Bullheads.

ReplyDelete#1. Is it already annexed into to the City?
#2. Where does the money come from to build this. Taxes or bond?
It's needed badly yes, but at whose expense.
Just questions that need answers.

ReplyDeleteWish they word hurry up and pave Bank street out to the north!
Rob McConnell
Bob Biglay that's County property, they really don't want to spend money on that!
Bob Biglay
Rob McConnell it's been approved as is supposed to start in the fall
Rob McConnell
Bob Biglay do we know how far it is going to go? I mean you look in the city itself and they still have dirt roads because those areas are county, so kinda wondering if they are really going to do it?!
Bob Biglay
Rob McConnell to Calle Castano. A lot of people live out here and first responder times are 20min or more. In town dirt streets don't prevent medical or police from a fast response but having to go all the way out Stockton hill then all the way back down to bank definitely slows response times.

Bob Biglay there's lots of neighborhoods that need paving since they tore up the streets and just left it torn up. Let's do that first. Parks in Kingman are just dangerous and many of us will never use them because of the repeated violence in local parks.
So fix the streets first, I say.
Adam Campbell
Bob Biglay and fix the intersection of bank and airway 🤣

ReplyDeleteNo , we so needed to the west , not the east
