Views of the Grandkids

 Owen getting a hit in baseball and the girls in matching swimsuits at Miller Pool.  Miller Pool was pretty cool.  the have the slides and a splash section.  The pool at its deepest is three feet, which was great for Riley who really enjoyed the dragon slide.  

Charity's Kids Christmas Concert

 Charity's daughters play Viola and violin, and her son provided vocals with his grade.  

Our Birthday Girl

 We celebrated a one-year-old birthday this past week.  This girl is walking and even starting to talk.

Fremont Lakes State Park

 Fremont Lakes is a series of sand pit lakes close to the Platte River.  There are over 20 lakes.  Most do not allow fast boat but kayaks and swimming are cool.  Jeremy and Mark and families were visiting so we too a day trip to the lakes.  This was our first time there but we may be back.  We had a sandwich lunch with potato chips.  It turned out to be a pretty fun day.  I even got in.  Camberly said the further out the warmer the water would be.  I never found the warm spot.

Mount Ranier Olympics

I was being negative about the idea, but the camp Olympics were really pretty fun.  Miranda had devised several games where we could compete with young and old alike.  This included airplane throwing, throw the ring on the peg and Frisbee throw for accuracy.  Then we had a relay race and ended the first session with a water over the shoulder relay.  Not a lot of pictures as I was competing. 

After a break we came back for beach towel volley ball.  this is where you try to catch a water balloon in a towel with your partner, and then try to throw it back of the net.  In this case it is well to have people about the same age.  I was with Skylar and just pulled the towel out of his hands. 

Northwest Trek Wildlife Park

They day we left the park we had hoped to go to a lake, but the cool air turned us away, so we headed to the Northwest Trek Wildlife Park in Eatonville, between Mr. Rainier and Tacoma.  The greatest fun was the first think we did.  They have a terrific park there.  I watched Asher go up the rock steps to a slide.  He did this over and over.  Later he discovered a wading creek which he also enjoyed.  There was a short walk to see wildlife.  The cages were all pretty open so sometimes it was hard to see the animals.  Everyone also went on a train ride (except me as I lost my ticket).  I have pictures from my viewpoint at the lake. I watched deer, elk and caribou feeding and drinking around the lake.  We also visited a reptile exhibit, but it was pretty lame. 
I tried to get everyone through lunch with the leftover food from camp I could come across.  It was cheese and sandwiches without bread, and chips. 
 

Camping at Mount Rainier: Cougar Rock Camp Ground July 30 to Aug 2

A Few more camping pictures.  Most of these are around our campground.

Cougar Rock was pretty fun.  There was a camp-wide program every night.  We went one night and listened to someone talk about ways we are scared.  We also had campfires at camp each night.  This included smores one night, playing murder another, and conversation.  Of course it also included chasing young ones.  Short excursion included the Hanover one morning, and to Paradise another.  We also toured waterfalls--Narada and Christine.  It was a fun week.
