Substance of Faith

This is Hebrews Chapter 11, where Paul gives a profound lesson on faith.  This lesson starts with "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  From there he gives many examples of faith.  Through these examples we gain a greater understanding of faith, and can then do some person reflection to see how we are doing in terms of faith.

I Have Kept the Faith - The Apostle Paul Endures To The End

Pauls words are superimposed over his execution in this video.  Paul warns agains apostasy, but also proclaims that he has fought the good fight.

The Armour of God

The words of Paul are incredible, and in these he talks about the whole gospel, of taking the gospel upon us:  having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness:  

  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;  (Ephesians: 6)

What better lesson on how to prepare ourselves to withstand the fiery darts of Satan. 

May we all keep ourselves safe from those things which take us from Faith in the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 7:8-10

8  For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.

9  Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.

10  For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

The scripture from Romans was so good today in Sunday school class that i had to share it.  Romans chapter 8 is powerful stuff.  The links are to music emphasizes the scriptures.  Enjoy these words of Paul.

Romans 8: 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

 31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be [prevail JST] against us?

 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I think this means nothing can take us from God's love, not even our own selves.  His love is always extended to us. We just have to take his outstretched hand.
