What's In This Blog

I created this blog for my journal. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this blog I keep many of the things I come across as a member of the church. I also share my experiences on the ACE Train and getting to work, my experiences in Manteca where we have lived for three years, and other things I think are noticeable.

Light the World 22: 2017: Try to Be Like Jesus

—3 Nephi 27:21
Day 22 focuses on the Savior, and learning form his example.  The children's LighttheWorld suggests thinking of three ways you can be like Jesus.  I have thought of blessing others, not judging others, and being patient with others.
Today we have Jesse and Nicolette with us.  They are friends of Tony's from when we lived in Cupertino.  They now live in San Jose.  Sheri went out to pick them up.  We try to be a good example when they are out, because their family are not members of the church.
My favorite teaching of Jesus is that if we have Faith, and garnish our thoughts with virtue, then our confidence will wax strong in the presence of God, and the power of the priesthood will fall upon us as the dews from heaven.

Vocal Point: I Stand All Amazed

This short film, musical video shows the life of the Savior from his birth through his resurrection.  It uses many scenes from the Bible Videos.  Oh it is wonderful.  The Savior is my God.  He has made life worth living, for I have been racked by sins and wrong deeds.  Only through the Savior am I made whole.  As Mr. Krueger said, through Him I can hold my head high.  May we remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Jesus Christ Implores Peter To "Feed My Sheep"

I think Jesus is teaching Peter that there are more important things to be doing than gong fishing.  That his was a monumental task which would take much effort.

Blessed Are They That Have Not Seen, and Yet Have Believed - Thomas of t...

This stunning portrayal of the interaction between Thomas and Jesus left me in tears.  It is very well done.  May we all be believing.  Here we have more witnesses of the resurrection.

My Kingdom is Not of This World

This is the second part of the story of "To this End Was I Born."  In this video we see the Crucifixion of Jesus, as well as his resurrection.  It provides testimony of some who saw Him.

To This End Was I Born

This is a summary of the life of jesus, ending with his condemnation.  May we always stand as witnesses of him, by are partaking of the sacrament weekly.  Very well done.  This story concludes in "My Kingdom Is Not of This World."

The Redeemer: A Service of Sacred Music (Easter Concert) - Mormon Tabern...

I hate to admit it, but this is going to sleep music.  Only the song about the Crucifixion had enough energy to keep me awake.  Also I couldn't understand many of the words of the soloists, especially the sopranos.  I wasn't watching close enough to get the titles every time, as the titles gave a hint as to what they were saying.

LDS General Conference: My Thoughts

It is impossible for me to add to anything that was said at conference this weekend.  However I heard a couple scriptures quoted over and over.  D&C 130:22  The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us."  There were at least three talks directly on the Holy Ghost and many more talked about the spirit.  Even President Monson talked about gaining a testimony through the spirit if we do not have one, and making sure it is vibrant.
that is what I heard, it is so important to make the Holy ghost an active part in our lives.  On talk pointed out there are three things we need from the Holy Ghost, protection, comfort and testimony.
I also heard a couple people quote D&C 19 about the savior:  16 For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;
17 But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;  18 Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit.  the Savior plays such a key role in repentance.

Parables of Jesus: The Parable of the Talents

Very interesting concept; with the Lord is doesn't matter when we accept Him, but that we do accept Him.

Parables of Jesus: The Parable of The Laborers In The Vineyard

This concept is very interesting.  With the Lord is does not matter when we accept Him, but that we do accept Him.  All will receive their reward.

Parables of Jesus: The Parable of the Ten Virgins

The key to understanding this parable is knowing what the oil in the lamps represents.  If the oil represents your own testimony of Jesus Christ, then it is understandable that the five virgins could not share, for each must stand on their own testimony.  It is also understandable why the bridegroom, representing Jesus, would say I know you not, for we must know the savior.  The first principle of the gospel is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  My heart swells when I think of Jesus and his atonement.

Jesus Teaches about the Widow's Mites

What should we give.  Jesus teaches that it is the attitude with which we give, rather the amount of what we give, the determines the sacrifice.

This is very wise teaching, and even the Jewish Sanhedrin agree.
