Central Park with Jesse and New Playground

The new playground at Central Park is almost magical.

This arch is musical.  It plays music when you walk under it.  You walk side to side and it will play a scale.

Jesse and I Walk to the Train Station

From Jesse's house to the train station is about a half mile walk.  Last week on Friday I picked him up and walked him to the station so he could spend the weekend.  Along the route, among other things, we saw a fireman school and a telephone pole climbing school.  The school as a bit distant; you can see it better from the light rail.

Jesse Is Here for the Week

Both Tony and Jesse are out of school.  Tony a week before Jesse.  So Jesse is here for the week.  I took them to the park the other night, they went swimming at the Normans today.  They went to Great America Monday.  They are having a good time.  However Tony now has Cub Scouts for a few afternoons. It is a busy week.  They have been jumping on the trampoline.  They have been throwing the ball around the house, and nothing broken yet.

Labor Day Monday

For Labor Day we went to the Norman for a barbecue.  Natalie was out from Utah with her fiance.  This give us additional time to meet Charlie, but also afforded us an opportunity to go swimming.  It was a very hot day, as Manteca and Tracy are known for.  The pool felt so nice.  It is hard to get in, but after getting in it is very refreshing.  

Mark did wonders at the barbecue with cheeseburgers, hamburgers, hotdogs and corn.  We supplied the buns.  I also made some Rice Krispie Treats.  Diana made lemon bars and peanut butter bars.  It was very nice.  We didn't sit on the regular tables, but stayed close to the house on the step so as to be in the shade.  

After dinner the boys returned to the pool, and I camped out under a tree to sleep with Max their dog.  I was suppose to be watching the young ones, but sleep over took me.  Luckily there were others to watch.  Tony had his good friend Jesse with him and they enjoyed the pool, as well as being outside the pool.  We also found time inside for conversation.

Saturday Before Labor Day Beach Trip

Jesse joined us for a beach trip where we met the Normans and got to know Natalie's fiance better.  He is an Eagle Scout, served his mission in Seattle, and went to Timpview High School and is from Provo.
We went to Sea Bright Beach, which has free parking.  Our activities were limited due to riptides.

Ice cream stop.  My sherbet was only so-so.  Tony's "heavenly" ice cream was divine.

Halloween 2014

 I am slow on the uptake, but going back and fixing my journal,  Halloween I came home early, and then stayed home to watch the candy bowl.  Jesse was over and Sheri and the kids went with the Petersens.

Tony's First Day of School: Second Grade 2014

Tony started school on Wednesday AUgust 6.  Jesse was visiting us at the time.  He was very excited to be back to school as he really enjoys it.  His teacher is Mr. Custer.  Mr. Custer said he is 57, and Tony wanted to say, "So is my dad;" but he was never called upon.
