What's In This Blog

I created this blog for my journal. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this blog I keep many of the things I come across as a member of the church. I also share my experiences on the ACE Train and getting to work, my experiences in Manteca where we have lived for three years, and other things I think are noticeable.

Sister McConkie: Women's Conference

Sister Carol F. McConkie spoke at the Women's General session.  She was the mission president's wife in San Jose Mission and we met her on a few occasions.  She and her husband came to our ward and spoke, and she would also speak at general conference with her husband.  The kids were friends with her daughter, even though in different wards.  We went there for a baptism of one of her friends who was a mutual friend with our boys through drama.  She talked about the cause all the woman are involved in.

The Holy Temple: October Conference 2014: Women's Session

https://www.lds.org/general-conference/watch/2014/10?lang=eng&vid=3810258133001&cid=6
This short movie was presented at the Women's Session of conference this past Saturday.  It is very moving.  It tells many stories and gives many testimonies of the peace these women have found in the temple.  I too would add my testimony to theirs.  The temple is the House of God, and we can find peace with temple attendance.  Having Tony sealed to us in the temple was such a blessing.  Also going through the temple with my five older children has also been wonderful experiences.  I pray that all my children would have a desire to go to the temple, and be worthy of holding temple recommends.

What Do LDS Women Get? Sherry Dew

I worked Saturday, so the first I heard of conference was on my way home.   Priesthood meeting had just started, but it is on LDS.org this year, so I was going to watch it when I arrived home.  However on the radio news, there was a story about how 200 women had been turned away from the meeting.  I guess they knew they would be, and were there for a publicity stunt; because if they were accepting the prophet as a prophet, they would not have been there in the first place.
Any was, I found an answer to these women in this talk by Sherry Dew.
Mostly what takes place in Priesthood meeting is talking to the men about being better husbands and fathers.  Of course the answer was in all the talks, the church men in general are so loving of women.  Of course we have our problems, but for the most part women are blessed from their participation in the church.
