What's In This Blog

I created this blog for my journal. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this blog I keep many of the things I come across as a member of the church. I also share my experiences on the ACE Train and getting to work, my experiences in Manteca where we have lived for three years, and other things I think are noticeable.

Montpelier Idaho Temple

The Montpelier Idaho Temple nears completion and the open house is scheduled for September with the dedication in October.  Currently this pertains to the Star Valley Temple which is 48 miles away.  The main entrance is on the Washington Street side, away from the parking lot.

Cleveland Temple Open House

We visited the open house this last week.  We thought it started at 10 and got there about that time to be told it actually started at 12 and 10 on Saturdays.  However we waited and went through.  It was a very good experience.  There is great peace in the temple, even before it has been dedicated.  We also walked around a cou0le of times, and the kids explored the forest on the temple grounds.  Pictures not allowed in the temple but we took lots of the exterior.  We had a good time.  I made it a point to meet many missionaries, and had ties with any of them.  There were at least three from Shelley, Idaho.  Another from Herriman.  I love the missionaries and I love the temple.  Cleveland is a small temple, but it still has all the ordinances and all the priesthood will be there.

A Quick Trip to Kansas City to attend Temple and visit IKEA

A few weeks back we went to the temple, spending the night (and eating) at Cracker Barrel.  Our Temple in Omaha is closed for three months while the redo the parking lot.  We stopped by IKEA on the way home.  The temple is in Missouri and IKEA in Kansas.

Elko Temple, Elko, Nevada

The Elko Temple is the third temple in Nevada after Las Vegas and Reno.  When sheri and I werte first married we lived in Duckwater which is a two and a half hours south of Elko; so likely this temple would have been our temple.  When we lived there Saint George was the assigned temple.

The symbol on the windows is called the window of heaven.

Spokane Temple

While traveling the 90 to Natalia's house we passed the Spokane Temple.  It was a ways from the freeway but worth the stop.  It has a beautiful spire and Moroni.

Billings Montana Temple

While graveling to Natalia's house this summer we passed several temples we had never seen before.  The first was the temple in Billings.  This temple has Moroni on a very tall spire.  This directs your thoughts to heaven.

Grand Junction Colorado Temple

The Grand Junction Temple is not yet open.  It is scheduled for an open house in September and dedication October 19.  It is convenient to the freeway.  However they are doing construction on the road to the tempe which will hopefully be done for the open house.  This is a beautiful temle.  It does not have and Angel Moroni but was a tall spire.

St. Louis Temple

When we lived in Carbondale this would have been our temple.  However it was not yet built and th nearest temple was Salt Lake 1400 miles away.  Of course this was in the 1960s,

I think the St. Louis temple is very beautiful with its blue glass.  It also has a distribution center next door where you can purchase temple clothing.

Nauvoo Temple

Nauvoo is very much an historical town.  It is appropriate that the Nauvoo Temple has been rebuilt.  And even though Moroni was put vertical rather than horizontal as in the original temple, it looks very much like the original temple which was burned as the Saints were leaving Nauvoo.  This temple is unique with a large assembly hall on the bottom floor and then the dressing room and endowment rooms are upstairs.
