Happy Anniversary to Us

 For our anniversary we ate dinner at Outback Steak House.  It was overall a pretty mellow day.  we did talk about where we have come in 43 years and where we are going.

Happy Anniversary to Us: Aug 11

It was a crazy weekend.  We were very busy.  Sheri and I went exploring gyms, and I now have a membership in the Fit Republic gym which is close to our home.  I can walk there.  The selling factor was the hydro massage tables.
I ten participated in Evee Community Day for Pokemon.  I caught enough to keep me happy because I had to end early.
It was then off to Lodi Lake to initiate the kayak the kids got me for Father's Day.  It worked well, but we had to use the kayak in a place other than the beach.  I had a turn, and came very close to a goose.  I then took Skylar and Bronston for a ride.  They both had turns paddling while I helped with my hands from the rear.  The Halls were also there.  Camberly and Hayley really enjoyed the waterfall in the kiddie pool.  While Asher enjoyed dumping water on Tony's head.

We then headed back to Manteca for a lunch date.  We debated for sometime where to go, and decided on Applebees all you can it ribs.  Very nummy, but destroyed by calorie count for the day, and carb count as they came with fries.  I did avoid any sugary drinks.
Very good conversation as Sheri and I discussed the good years and the bad.  35 years and counting.

Happy Anniversary (34) to Us

We went to Alviso for our birthday.  Ae at two so-so restaurants.  Vahl's in Alviso wasn't as good as I was expecting.  And then Bill's restaurant for breakfast also disappointed.  However the company did not.  We took a tour of Alviso, and walked out to the bay at Alviso Marina.

Sheri and I went out Monday for our anniversary.  Of course no pictures.  Sheri met me in Tracy and we went out to Golden Corral.  This is appropriate as it is close to Corral Hollow Road. 
I didn't realize that the Golden Corral had changed to a buffet.  I was surprised, and I think for an anniversary a buffet is not the best choice because you want to sit and stare at each other while someone else brings the food  However, we had decided Texas Roadhouse wouldn't be a good choice because it was so loud when we went there.  I guess the best choice would have been the Black Bear.
I have written elsewhere what Sheri means to me.  31 years is more than half a lifetime.  It seems they have been good years.  We have been blessed with seven children, not counting Billy Boy in heaven.  We also have five grandchildren, (four boys and one girl) with two more (boys) on the way. 
Sheri has been the strong one in our marriage.  She is the disciplinarian.  I go to work and back, and she minds the home front.  She (I think this is true) has joined me in the fight to lick my high sugar numbers.  This means a lot.  It is she that massages my back when I get too pretzled from the train.  She can get the kinks out.  She keeps me going.

Life in Manteca 104: Weekend in Review

This weekend was different for me as I discovered a new season of Doctor Who on Netflix, and had to watch them all, it ws fun.  

Today makes 31 years of marriage for your mom and I.  I should say marital bliss, but we have our rough edges still, but keep plugging away. 

Jesse was here all week last week.  Tony was really weird for a while.  He kept bringing up past rules and saying we treated Jesse differently and it wasn’t fair.  However, after a couple days he started to improve.  I think his going back to school on Wednesday was a big help for both of them.  I like Jesse.  He has started using some bad words, and he gets a reaction for them.  That was distressing to Tony. 

Taught Elisha in Sunday school.  He was an interesting prophet.  Just remember in your struggles in the mission that they that be with you are more than they that be against you.  I like that.  2 kings chapter 6 and I think verse 16.  That story is cool, with the Syrians coming to kill the prophet, and his young companion not being able to see the hosts of heaven who were with the prophet. 

Also taught Naaman which is a lesson in humility and exacting obedience, and also missionary work.

Mom and I are going out this pm in Tracy, I think we decided on the Golden Corral.

I found a picture of John and Mary Wardle on Family Search.  If you can log in, go to them and you should be able to see it.  I had never seen their picture before so I was excited.  They were Isaac’s parents.   

I have been approaching accepting that I have diabetes, and really doing something to take control of it.  I think I have been willing to take the pills, but not much more.

We went to the Normans yesterday, I for temple recommend interview.  Natalie and Josh are out, and I wanted to say hi.  I also went to broadway review rehearsal in Tracy, we are going to do "One Day More."

Life in Manteca 70: Restaurant Review: Texas Road House

Texas Road House is actually in Tracy, 15 minutes from our house.

I have not been writing as many restaurant reviews, as Sheri and I have had to adjust our budget a little.  However, we went out for our anniversary, and settled on Texas Road House as I had a coupon for my birthday which was set to expire. 

It was a very nice feast.  Sheri had the bone in rib eye steak with baked potato and corn.  For my part I had Caesar salad for starters, sirloin steak with mushrooms and shrimp, baked potato with the toppings of sour cream and bacon bits, and side of chili.  I drank water with a twist of lemon, while Sheri had strawberry lemonade.  The meal started with rolls with cinnamon butter, and peanuts.  I guess the custom is to throw them on the floor.  I wasn’t much into that and kept them on a plate, and Sheri on the table.  I did brush the inner shell off onto the floor, Sheri got one of those in her drink.  The Caesar salad they brought was delicious.  Every leave had been covered in dressing.  It was very tasty.  I cannot say for Sheri, but my steak was delicious.  I love steak and mushrooms with steak.  It takes me back to days with Sheri’s father cooking steak and mushrooms.  I also really enjoyed the shrimp.  They were on a skewer, and a bit hard to get off, but were served with lots of garlic butter.  The chili was a hot one, but delicious and made your hair stand on end.  The bonus coupon was for a side of ribs which were also very good.  Sheri and I shared, but I ate them mostly.  As for Sheri’s steak she said it was very good.  I ate her corn.  It was very sweet, and had liquid in it so wasn’t only mediocre.  It wasn’t on the cob. 

One thing about this meal, we filled ourselves up on so many peanuts, we had plenty to take home.  I ate my leftovers for lunch at work. 

As for the things that could have been better, there is a wait even with call-ahead seating.  It is very noisy, and then for some reason the waitresses decided to dance to a song, and they cranked up the music even louder.  Not a place for an intimate conversation.  As for the food, very good.  I guess when I got my baked potato I wasn’t in the mood for it and regretted not getting fries.
