What's In This Blog

I created this blog for my journal. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this blog I keep many of the things I come across as a member of the church. I also share my experiences on the ACE Train and getting to work, my experiences in Manteca where we have lived for three years, and other things I think are noticeable.

Port Orchard Southworth to Seattle Ferry on the Puget Sound

When we were in Port Orchard for Ayden's baptism we visited the zoo just before January 1.  The ferry ride afforded some nice views.  We saw Blake Island and Vashon Island.  When we were in the sound clear of the islands we had a nice view of Mount Rainier which was many miles away.

Sunday Dinner with the Merrills

It seems we always have Sunday dinner with the Merrills when we visit Natalia.  This visit was no exception.  However they introduced us to a new game, Kubb.  You tossed sticks to knock over blocks, with the king block saved for last.  It was fun.  We also played some bocci and generally had a good time conversing.  Tony has a pen pal from the Merrill grandchildren so it was good for him as well.  The task now is for on of our kids to make us a set of Kubb for Christmas.  This Sunday dinner was a bit more special because it included Ty's birthday.

Port Orchard Beach and View of Seattle

This is across the Sound from Seattle.  You can see the Space Needle in some of the pictures.  The tide was so high there was  not much beach, but we found a little and had fun.  Tony tried skipping rocks.  And something unusual, a borrow the life jacket stand.  Ayden was funny.  This was Saturday before camping so July 28.

Port Orchard, WA: Area and Restaurant Review

While visiting Seattle we stayed with the Merrills.  They live in Port Orchard, which is where Ty and Natalia live.  They are good friends of Ty and were influential in his joining the church.

This area of town the lots are required to be 10 acres.  This creates a much different feel than where we live.  There are so many trees it is incredible.  There is also ocean as Port Orchard is on the Sound.  There is a ferry to Bremerton, but we always drove around.
Natalia and Ty also live in Port Orchard.  The live in a small apartment, which they get for free because the manage a swimming pool that is next to their homel.  We visited there but I neglected to take pictures.  They have decorated it very nicely, each having put together a collage which they display.
We ate breakfast Saturday with Ty's father who also lives in Port Orchard.  He told us stories of his days in the Navy.  He related his shell-back story when he crossed the equator for the first time.  Brother Merrill and Ty's father both have work affiliated with the Naval Base in Bremerton.
We visited the restaurant Everybody's.  I was very impressed with it.  Of course I am only talking as relates to the breakfast menu.  However based on that I would recommend this restaurant.  The portions were very large.  Their hash-browns were different, the potatoes were shredded in a large size, which I really enjoyed.  I had them with an omelet which was also very good.
