What's In This Blog

I created this blog for my journal. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this blog I keep many of the things I come across as a member of the church. I also share my experiences on the ACE Train and getting to work, my experiences in Manteca where we have lived for three years, and other things I think are noticeable.

LDS and other churches in Kingman, AZ

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is located at the end of Rutherford Street where it dead ends at the I-40.  It can be seen from the freeway.  This church has well established trees.  There is a gym indoors and volleyball and fire pit outdoors.

The other church pertaining to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kingman is at the corner of Eastern and Southern.  This church also has a full court gym.  Outside it has picnic area and lighted softball diamond.  This is the stake center meaning when several congregations meet together this is where they meet.  Each church holds four different congregations based on geographic area.

When we first moved to Kingman there was on stake, Kingman Stake with the stake center on Eastern.  There are now two stakes.  Kingman Stake includes Wikiup and Bullhead.  The Kingman North Stake has their take center on Rutherford (Which had been a stake center before).  Included with the Kingman wards there is Dolan Springs Branch (now th Mount Tipton Ward) and Peach Springs which includes Supai where there is a small church but the unit is dependent on Peach Springs.  .
St. Mary's Catholic Church is downtown on the same block as the court house at Spring and Third.  The original church was built in 1907 and is now used as a gift shop.  The new church was built in 1967.
The Episcopal church is on the same street but on the other side of the court house.

Saint Johns United Methodist Church use to be downtown kitty corner from the court house.  It is now off of Stockton Hill Road on Kino.  It is a large complex which appears to include a school.

Oak Street Baptist is on the corner of sixth and Oak.

Wikiup Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Although not in Kingman, this church pertains to the Kingman Stake (similar to a diocese).  There is a small congregation here which is called a branch.  The church is on Chicken Springs Road just off the highway 93.  It is just past Whitney Elementary

Another church in the Kingman Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is located in Bullhead.  This church houses two congregations, Bullhead and Laughlin, Black Mountain and Desert Lakes wards.
