The Flying Fortress Parkway is a new road in Kingman Arizona which will eventually gof form the I-40 to the Kingman Airport. The State is building the interchange off the freeway and the city is building the road. There has been significant progress but it is not expected to be completed until late this year or early next year. The road gets its name from the Kingman Army Air Field which is now the airport. During WWII the airfield was used to train gunners for the B-17 Flying Fortress. The road was previously called rattlesnake wash,
While there we went by to check on progress, and drove on the new road, which is not yet paved, as there was nothing saying we couldn't. We drove from Airway to the freeway where we were obligated to turn around as we could not go further. The interchange road is currently being used as the freeway.
