What's In This Blog

I created this blog for my journal. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this blog I keep many of the things I come across as a member of the church. I also share my experiences on the ACE Train and getting to work, my experiences in Manteca where we have lived for three years, and other things I think are noticeable.

To the Symphony: Omaha Symphony: Bahl Conducts Mahler's "Titan"

Granddaughter and I caught the last symphony concert of the year.  She gets free tickets through her youth orchestra where she plays viola.  The symphony presented Bahl Conducts Mahler's "Titan."  The symphony was a bit long.  It is Gustav Mahler's symphony No. 1 in D major.  He would complete nine symphonies and had started his tenth when he passed away.  It was conducted by Ankush Kumar Bahl, conductor.  This was his last with the Omaha Symhony.  Three other musicians retired after the performance.

Camberly preferred the first piecde, "Tagic Overture by Johannes Brahms.  I was in a sad mood so didn't like it too much (I broke the car.).

However I really enjoyed the jazz clarinet performance.  They did Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra by Aaron Copland.  Anthony McGill was the visiting clarinetist.  He did excellent.

Both Cammy and I felt the symphony No. 1 was a bit long.  I found I was falling asleep.  However parts of it were really good.  There was some dance music.  Mahler was Jewish and you could hear the Jewish pieces.  Reminded me of "Fiddler on the Roof."
