What's In This Blog

I created this blog for my journal. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this blog I keep many of the things I come across as a member of the church. I also share my experiences on the ACE Train and getting to work, my experiences in Manteca where we have lived for three years, and other things I think are noticeable.

Restaurant Scene: Manteca: Five Guys, Sizzler

The Manteca restaurant scene has really changed with the addition of Sizzler, and Five Guys.  Five Guys is a chain I have visited before.  This is a review of the Twin Falls store.  I have still been trying to get the same flavor on my mushroom burger, and always seem to come up short of my memory of that first one.  However I have discovered their shakes and they are terrific.  I had a caramel shake to my delight.  I also like their fries, and the way they overstuff them in the bag.  I have found it is best for me to order the smaller burger.  The regular burger comes with two patties, which is just too much for me as then the meat dominates the flavor and it is hard to taste whatever else you want on your burger.
The bigger impact in Manteca has been Sizzler.  This is a national chain that features steak and salad buffet.  That restaurant always has a very large crowd.  It has drawn the crowd away form Chili's it appears.  We visited and I had sirloin tips over rice pilar which was excellent.  The juice form the steak did a good number on the rice.  Two excellent additions.

Valley Medical Center Construction

These are views of the construction on the new wing of Valley Medical Center.  It seems it should be done shortly, but there are still piles of dirt all over the place.

Ayden in a Basket

Ayden was fascinated with the basket we keep in the family room for pillows.  She made good use of it.
At first its exciting, then not so much so

My Kingdom is Not of This World

This is the second part of the story of "To this End Was I Born."  In this video we see the Crucifixion of Jesus, as well as his resurrection.  It provides testimony of some who saw Him.

To This End Was I Born

This is a summary of the life of jesus, ending with his condemnation.  May we always stand as witnesses of him, by are partaking of the sacrament weekly.  Very well done.  This story concludes in "My Kingdom Is Not of This World."

Park Day: Shasta Park: April 2017

Shasta Park had some neat toys.  Tony and I went with Kayla and the boys.  There is a two person swing where an adult can swing a baby.  There are some pictures of Tony swinging Asher.  I had a turn as well, as did Kayla.  Skylar and Tony liked climbing high.  And they all liked the merry-go-round.  I pushed some, and Tony pushed, even Skylar pushed.  It was great fun.  They also had some large safety swings which Skylar and Bronnie both tried.

Ward Soup Night: Ooh, la la: Springtime in Paris

This year instead of a chili cook off we went with soup.  There were soups of all kinds.  This includes a dessert competition and Tony won for his no-bakes.  I helped, who can never get them right, but I did this time.  No-bakes are tricky, if they cook too long they turn to sugar, to little and they don't set up and you have to eat them with a spoon like soup.   Any rate, Tony received the five-star award.  We told Tony five-star means the best.
I had a little skit.  I sang "The Teapot Song" and "Perhaps Love."  I also lead the congregation in Frere Jaques."  All the family was there (but Mark), Natalia was in town for the blessing, and Annie and Caleb arrived this day as did Miranda.  They had a section roped off for the kids to play.  It was a fun evening.  I made snicker doodles, which did not win.  Sheri made corn chowder, which would have won but was too hot.  And then Tony insisted we take no-bakes, so I helped him make them.  Sheri had gone to Sacramento to pick up Miranda.

Todd's Blessing Day: At the Banks

I must admit, I focused on getting pictures of our side of the family, and missed all the Banks and Hunters.  Sister Banks provided the after blessing meal, and man was it incredible.  We had burritos or chips with carnitas with a green sauce made from tomatillo which was incredible.  The highlight of the meal however was the raspberry sauce for the cheese cake.  It was excellent.  I had to have some on a brownie as well as I needed more.  (I was told Grandma Hunter made it.)  Caleb and Sheri helped in the kitchen.  Tony played ping pong and some other games, and hopefully made lots of friends.  I discovered that Todd is the first of a generation on the Hunter and Banks sides.  He is our eleventh grandchild.
