What's In This Blog

I created this blog for my journal. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this blog I keep many of the things I come across as a member of the church. I also share my experiences on the ACE Train and getting to work, my experiences in Manteca where we have lived for three years, and other things I think are noticeable.

Oakland Temple Open House

We visited today.  It is not too late to get there.  But this is the last week for the open house tours. then it closes in preparation for the dedication a couple weeks later.  All of the kids were in town for the temple, and they sang in church yesterday which was a double bonus.  We had a good weekend.

Drives 2019

In attending the Sacramento Temple I have found alternate routes not following the freeway.  The routes also bypass most of Elk Grove.  Going north on 99 you take Grant Line Road and then you can turn on Bradshaw or Sunrise or Prairie City to the 50.  If you take Prairie City you are a little past the temple so have to go west on 50, and the other two you go east on 50.  This drives provide a very different experience going to the temple, which are shorter mile wise but take about the same amount of time; unless there is traffic on the freeway and then they are quicker.  There is a business of some type which is on Grant Line where I had to stop and take a couple pictures.  An old barn type building (Steele Realty at the corner of Aleilani) with old wagons and such around.  It also has some pretty neat sculptures.

Pancake Breakfast at the Firehouse

Tony and I had a good time stuffing pancakes, ham and scrambled eggs.  This was Saturday May 11th and the Firehouse was located by the swimming pool and ball parks in Lincoln.  With ball games parking was tight.  I thought maybe we would see someone we know, but we didn't.  They said proceeds were for a scholarship fund.  We did not participate in the raffle.

Alameda and Lanzen Walk, San Jose

This is the tunnel that goes underneath the Alameda.  I was shocked that it had been repainted since last time I had been through.  Only disappointment is the trace of a smell of urine.
This is a display in front of a school, Alameda and Lanzen
