What's In This Blog

I created this blog for my journal. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this blog I keep many of the things I come across as a member of the church. I also share my experiences on the ACE Train and getting to work, my experiences in Manteca where we have lived for three years, and other things I think are noticeable.

Strawberry Picking with the Halls

Quick trip to a strawberry patch at the invitation of Charity.  It was quick, but sort of fun  It also represented our first trip through Riverbank on the way home.

A mitton
Sheri held Hayley and took pictures
Strawberries were good.  They had gotten rain so subject to mildew.  We had to eat them fast.  We took home a bucket.

Tony's Health: Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP)

This is an illness I would rather not know about.  Tony went through a period of having sore ankles.  We couldn't figure it out.  Could he have twisted them?  This was our thought as he had been on roller blades.  However when his hand swelled up at church a couple weeks ago, we knew something was up.  tony was at the MD the next day.  He also developed a strange rash before we took him.  We were thinking strange spider bite or something.
However it turns out the doctor was familiar with this stuff.  Henoch-Schonlein Purpura is a disease that is rare but happens.  However the cause is still unclear. It could be a reaction to having an upper respiratory infection few weeks back and the body over compensating to attack this.  This overcompensation results in the capillaries leaking fluid which results in all the symptoms, strange rash and arthritic type of pain.  Tony had a cold a few weeks back.  The major treatment is wait and see and it will go away in three to six weeks.  There is not much they can do; although Tony is taking Neproxen.  The worries are kidneys and intestines.  They checked Tony's kidneys with a blood test--all good.  He also does not have blood in his urine which is also good.  The intestines can kink and cause pain.  Tony has no sign of this which is good.
Since the diagnosis, Tony's other hand had a bout of swelling.  His rash went away.  However things come and go with this disease.  His rash has come back looking like the classic rash.  The arthritic condition which comes with it has moved from his ankles to his knees; and is much more painful.  We have had periods of his not being able to walk because of the pain.  We are waiting for it to go away.  However frequently the symptoms come back; but not as severe.

first rash

Mom marked the rash, when Tony went to the Dr. it was wider but not as high.

second rash

Good thing about the rash it is not hives.  It itches a little but not as much as you would think looking at it.  It is more like bruising from the capillaries leaking.
swollen knee
Tony has almost three weeks of dealing with this stuff.  It comes and goes, and changes where it is hurting, but it is all the same stuff.  Right now he is having problems with his right knee.  We are hoping he has a shorter course, because two-six weeks is very indeterminate.

Bible Video: Repentance

The words of Paul form 2 Corinthians

2 Corinthians 7:8-10

8  For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.
9  Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.

10  For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Visiting With Weldon and Sue; and Mark and Diana

Last Saturday, 4/9/16 we went to Mark and Diana's to visit with Weldon and Sue, as they were out for Caleb's wedding and had a few hours before having to catch their flight.  We talked about many different things; family status, my mom and her health, jobs, approaching retirement, and etcetera, etcetera.  We really had a good time.  Sometimes just sitting and talking can be fun.

He is Risen: John the Beloved's Witness of the Resurrection

This is the story of Jesus, as seen through the eyes of John the Beloved.  John was with Jesus during his ministry, upon the Mount of Transfiguration, at the Garden of Gethsemane, at the cross, where Jesus instructed him to care for his mother, and saw Him, the risen Lord, and bore testimony of Him.  "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing."

Jesus Walking On Water - Wherefore Didst Thou Doubt?

There are several keys to this video.  Peter calls, "Bid me come onto thee on the water."  First Peter does walk on the water, but loses his faith with he notices the elements.

Then Peter cries out, "Lord, Save Me."  Won't the Lord always save us when we reach out to him,  I wonder if this is what Jesus referred to when he said, "Wherefore Didst Thou Doubt."  Peter then proclaims Jesus as the Son of God.
