What's In This Blog

I created this blog for my journal. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this blog I keep many of the things I come across as a member of the church. I also share my experiences on the ACE Train and getting to work, my experiences in Manteca where we have lived for three years, and other things I think are noticeable.

Halloween 2013

Went for a walk with the trick-or-treaters.  Tony went with the Petersens, and we all went for the walk.  It was pretty fun.  We came back after an hour to give out candy, and got most of the bowl gone.  The big issues was getting the kids to wait for the slower parents.  Tony wore his Power Ranger costume, and Miranda as a cowgirl.
We saw Haleigh and her friends dressed as Disney princesses at the corner.
Also saw a few friends, Carson's mom.  Carson had choir with Caleb, and the Lopez family.
I need to walk more.  We were going slow, and not very far, and still my legs were sore.

Does She Overstep the Bounds of a Good Neighbor?

What do you think of this woman who plans to hand out notes instead of candy to any children she  deems as being over weight because it "Takes a Village."  I would not do well with such a neighbor.  The first idiot is Hillary Clinton for such a stupid book, it takes a parent, and this relationship should not be subject to a "village" unless there is immediate danger.  "The Village" should keep their nose out of other people's business is my thought. I think if my child received such a note I would be very angry, but I would probably avoid this person in the future.
I would like to entertain other opinions on this subject.

100,000 views

Sometime tomorrow I will have reached 100,000 views between my five blogs.  I think this is worthy of celebrating, but will celebrate Halloween instead.  I am grateful for everyone who takes a few minutes to look at something I have written.  I appreciate it, and hope I do not overstay my welcome.

My Thoughts About the Doctrine and Covenants

http://bwardlehistory.blogspot.com/2013/09/mormon-historical-movie-heavens-are-open.html
I have enjoyed some of the modern day scripture in the Doctrine and Covenants immensely.  In this book of modern day revelations are some of the most beautiful scripture, and proof that God has not left us a lone in our day.  The testimony of Jesus is so clear:  D&C 19:
 16 For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;
 17 But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;
 18 Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink—
 19 Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.
D&C 76:  22 And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!
 23 For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—
 24 That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God.
The example of Joseph Smith and his dealing with persecution, are as great a teacher as the book of Job.
D&C 121:  My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;
 And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.
 Thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again with warm hearts and friendly hands.
 10 Thou art not yet as Job; thy friends do not contend against thee, neither charge thee with transgression, as they did Job.
This work has revelation dealing with the priesthood, the restoration of the priesthood and the use of the priesthood, and the blessings of the priesthood.  It includes the word of wisdom.
My most favorite scripture is after we are advised not to exercise unrighteousness dominion. I don't think there is anything more beautiful than these words.  The blessing promised is tremendous.
D&C 121: 45 Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.
 46 The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth; and thy dominion shall be an everlasting dominion, and without compulsory means it shall flow unto thee forever and ever.

Northland Ward Halloween Party

The Young Women and Primary organized the ward Halloween Party this year, and it was quite the event with hay ride, bouncy house, carnival games, dinner and trunk or treat.  Tony said he had a really good time.  One time he said he liked the bouncy house best, another he said he liked everything, and finally he said he liked hanging with Joshua and being best friends.

Member Missionary 5: Caleb's Latest Advice

The goal is to see miracles together. We [missionaries] want to help them [members] with their missionary work, not ask them when we need help. Missionaries are members of the ward who help in the missionary work that happens in the ward, rather than create all the missionary work and the members help if that makes sense.
Remember the model from past posts:
1: Pray for missionary experiences
2: Share: share our lives, activities, homes
3: Invite: To church, an activity, to hear the missionaries
4: Testify: participate in the lessons with the missionaries, host missionary discussions, and testify when prompted by the Holy Ghost

Day Away in San Jose with Tony and Jesse

We had a day away with Tony and his friend Jesse.  It included miniature gold, and even though I took my camera, I forgot the memory clip, then realized later I had a second, so not pictures at the gold course.  We also play many video games, some where they gave you little toys.  Tony got some men he is really enjoying.  Gold was expensive.  We always went on family night, or discount night in the past.
We purchased food at McDonalds, kids meals for the boys, and went to Central Park for a picnic.  Kids also played hide and seek on the big boy play ground.  They had fun.

October Birthdays

Jeremy Happy 25th October 18 and Natalia a few years older October 17, but celebrated backwards.

For Jeremy's we had Navajo taco lunch and Kayla baked a cake.  Skylar is also turning one this week, but they will celebrate with Kayla's family

And Natalia we went to Chili's,but I took picture at the park afterward.  We were luck to have Natalia from Washington. She flew in Friday p.m. for baby blessing.
